Echelon

Echelon （エシェロン、階層）

An echelon is a level of support. TEMPO generalizes the notion of echelons. By this we mean that the number of support sites between an operating site and the procurement source may vary by operating site. Since the number of support sites between an operating site and the procurement source is unlimited, the number of echelons is unlimited as well.

The relationship of operating sites and support sites must still be arborescent (tree-like) in the sense that each site of any kind has a single support site (or the procurement source) to which is sends failed units beyond its repair capability and from which it receives resupply.
